OPPORTUNITY: Applications for 2017-18 EtM Choreographer + Composer Residencies - Deadline = June 1st4/20/2017 Dear Colleagues, We pleased to release the third round of our Choreographer + Composer Residencies applications! Deadline: Thursday, June 1st by 5:00 P.M. EST This residency provides four choreographer/composer teams (eight artists total) with free rehearsal and workspace for a three-month period. Artists may start their residencies in October 2017 or January 2018. The artist team will have the space to develop new work. Each team is required to give one free public program in coordination with JCAL. Each artist will receive a stipend of $1,500, plus an additional stipend on completion of the public program. We seek an outstanding, full-time faculty member with a record of important contributions to the field of Dance Education through artistic and scholarly accomplishment along with excellent teaching, leadership in dance education programming, and professional service. We will recruit a colleague whose work bridges theory, research and practice to guide the development of a new doctoral program in Dance Education. That program focuses on strengthening the field of Dance Education, deepening the knowledge base of pedagogies and teaching models in the field, creating strong links with other faculty and research in teacher education and related domains of professional practice, and contributing to policy development that will support dance education across the life span. Scottish Ballet The Joyce Theater April 11 – 16 For their New York debut, the Scottish Ballet, now Scotland’s national dance company will feature a program of U.S. premieres: Motion of Displacement (2015) by Bryan Arias, and Ten Poems by Christopher Bruce. Arias’ Motion of Displacement “…is inspired by memories of his mother’s journey in her pursuit of love, and set to the music of John Adams and Johann Sebastian Bach,” while Bruce’s Ten Poems, set to various Dylan Thomas poems read by Richard Burton, “…focuses …on themes of humanity, loss, war, and peace.” notes the release.
