Roy Assaf Dance from Israel makes its New York debut with a double bill featuring two award-winning works: Six Years Later, a duet meditating on a mysterious connection, and The Hill, a powerful all-male trio inspired by the experiences of war veterans. One of the most sought-after emerging choreographic voices today, Assaf has received commissions from companies across the globe, including Batsheva Dance Company, The Royal Swedish Ballet, National Dance Company Wales, and LA Dance Project. "...Shantel Prado and Scott Shaw, of Gibney Dance's Digital Technology Initiative, created a beautiful short video that gets at some of the seeds and root system of the piece instead of only highlighting the flowers--the shows. The video is three-and-a-half minutes long and includes rehearsal footage as well as interviews with cast members and with Artistic Director Maria Bauman. I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer. I am a faculty member at Hunter College, Sarah Lawrence College (Guest), Empire State College's online program Center for Distance Learning. I am also a former faculty member of The Ailey School and the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University dance major program, Kean University and The Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program.
