FROM Jan Hanvik:

Dear Dance Enthusiast,

Tlacopac International Artist Residency opened in Mexico City January 29.  Only 6% of artist residencies in the world invite performing artists, because performing arts residencies require a large rehearsal space and many bedrooms.  Tlacopac has a large wood-floored rehearsal space, 5 bedrooms that can accommodate 8 - 12 dance students or dance company members, and 2 - 3 professors or choreographers and assistants, as well as changing rooms, a steam room and sauna, and rooftops, gardens, patios, and living and sleeping spaces that are spacious and comfortable, in a home in a quiet safe neighborhood in southern Mexico City that attracted many of the most important figures in Mexican and Mexican-American art history.  Details and application form at https://crossingbridges.nyc/residencia-artistica-tlacopac-tlacopac-artist-residency/

Founder Jan Hanvik is a former modern dancer with a BFA City College of the City University of New York, and MA from New York University Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies. https://www.linkedin.com/in/jan-hanvik-a5ba1a25/  Dance Director Mark DeGarmo has a BFA from the Juilliard School and PhD from Union Institute and University. http://markdegarmodance.org/our-mission/  Both have enormous experience in US-Mexico dance exchange and guarantee to dance visitors to Tlacopac an immersive experience in Mexico's rich world of traditional, indigenous, contemporary, classical, AfroMexican, and other forms of dance, as well as a quiet supportive environment in which to develop the dance project of their choosing.  Please visit the link above to research or to apply, and please send your inquiries to Jan Hanvik.

In 2019, our mission in life is "More intercultural exchange!  More intercultural exchange!  More intercultural exchange!"
