American Ballet Theatre (ABT)
March 23-April 18

New York City Center presents their
ABT Live from City Center | A Ratmansky Celebration, featuring American Ballet Theatre filmed live on the City Center stage, the program marks ABT’s return to the theater for their first full evening program at City Center since 2012. Hosted by Susan Fales-Hill, highlights include excerpts from The Seasons (2019), Seven Sonatas (2009), and The Sleeping Beauty (2015), and Bernstein in a Bubble, a World Premiere set to the music of Leonard Bernstein. "The new work, Ratmansky’s first since March 2020, was created in January and February of this year during a quarantined “ballet bubble” in Silver Bay, New York. The program features ABT dancers Aran Bell, Isabella Boylston, Skylar Brandt, Herman Cornejo, Patrick Frenette, Carlos Gonzalez, Blaine Hoven, Catherine Hurlin, Tyler Maloney, Luciana Paris, Devon Teuscher, Cassandra Trenary, and James Whiteside," notes the release. Find out more here

On Sundays, the "Works & Process" series continues with Ladies of Hip-Hop: Black Dancing Bodies Project × (4/11), and Jamar Roberts and David Watson (4/18) artists from Intergenerational performing arts series “Works & Process” at the Guggenheim, and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts will present newly commissioned video performances developed during Works & Process bubble residencies at Bethany Arts Community, Catskill Mountain Foundation, and Mount Tremper Arts. Abraham's yet-to-be-named premiere for New York City Ballet’s 2021 digital season created after a three-week COVID-compliant residency bubble at the Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, will feature dancers - India Bradley, Jonathan Fahoury, Christopher
Grant, Claire Kretzschmar, Lauren Lovette, Taylor Stanley, KJ Takahashi, and Sebastian Villarini-Velez. Find out more here

At the Joyce, Casel will perform live and audiences can view the world premiere on demand “…inspired by her relationship with tap and the joy she finds in living,” according to the release. This [Virtual] Movement Research Festival GPS Chats offers conversations with artists that have participated in the first exchange in 2013 and the last exchange before the pandemic hit in 2020. We'll be joined by the organizers from Mexico Laboratorio: Condensación and Segundo Piso in a conversation moderated by Levi Gonzalez. These artistic exchanges between the US and Mexico have created space for a more expansive dialogue on the realities, challenges and possibilities of being a working artist within and across these two countries' borders.     I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
