Battery Dance Accepting Applications for 40th Annual Battery Dance Festival - Deadline 3/11/20/2021 Battery Dance Festival, New York City's longest-running free public dance festival, was established by Battery Dance as the Downtown Dance Festival in 1982. It draws audiences of approximately 2,000 people each night from the large downtown population of workers, residents, families, tourists, senior citizens and dance fans from the greater NYC metropolitan area and beyond. The Festival went virtual last summer and is planned to run as a hybrid model with live and streamed performances in August 2021.* Battery Dance Festival provides a unique opportunity for professional dancers and choreographers in any genre to present original works of high artistic merit in a free public forum against the backdrop of New York Harbor, Statue of Liberty and the sunset. MOBILE DANCE FILM FESTIVAL THE ONLY FILM FESTIVAL TO PRESENT DANCE FILMS SHOT SOLELY ON MOBILE DEVICES Submissions Open through May 1 Festival Screening Date Saturday, July 31 New York, NY: January 12, 2021 -- 92Y announces that submissions are open for the fourth annual 92Y Mobile Dance Film Festival -- the only dance film festival featuring works shot entirely on mobile devices. Filmmakers may submit up to three films across three categories: standard, AR and VR, and a new student film category for anyone currently enrolled in a high school, university, or equivalent certificate program. Submission deadline is May 21, 2021. DIGITAL AND OUTDOOR PERFORMANCES PLANNED FOR THE FIRST HALF OF 2021 American Ballet Theatre announced today the cancellation of its 2021 Season at the Metropolitan Opera House. The season, originally planned for June and July of 2021, has been cancelled due to health and safety concerns related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions on non-essential gatherings. In the months ahead, American Ballet Theatre plans robust offerings of new choreography, created in remote ballet bubbles under strict medical and health guidelines in upstate New York and Southern California, and additional locations to be announced. Digital productions and outdoor socially distanced performances around the United States are planned for spring 2021.
