Under the leadership of artistic director Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago returns to the Joyce for an evening of mixed repertory which includes  Ohad Naharin's Black Milk, plus three New York premieres: Into Being by FLOCK, resident artist Aszure Barton's A Duo, and Johan Inger’s IMPASSE. Find out more here

Fagan and Engelstein will present Friday Night Rat Catchers where "Beneath the shimmer of a disco ball, lucky contestants dance like they have the world on a string. The New York premiere of Carnival of the Animals, a re-imagining of Camille Saint- Saëns’ classic work, is conceived by Bamuthi Joseph, choreographed and directed by Harper, and performed by Whelan.  In response to the events of January 6, 2021, the work “…navigates the reality of today’s political complexities through music, poetry, and dance,” according to the release.  Find out more here

Kelly and TF3T return to The Invisible Dog with Bunny Bunny, one of the last live performances as the venue closes.  Written, directed and choreographed by Kelly, Bunny Bunny “is an ensemble devised danced-theatre production and installation exploring desire and surveillance…a fictional story based on the real-life events of six bunny rabbits who are stuck in a house,” according to the release.  Find out more here

What is the Movement Research Artist-in-Residence (AIR) program?
A residency program providing commissioning support, rehearsal space, performance and related opportunities designed to support the individualized creative process of movement-based artists.

Six (6) artists will be selected to participate in the 2025-2026
Movement Research Artist-in-Residence program via this application process. Applications will be reviewed and selected through a peer artist review process.

Selected artists will be invited to participate in the 18 month long residency which will begin on Jul 1, 2025 and conclude on Dec 31, 2026.

This exciting artist residency supports the creation and development of new works in dance, music, theater, and multi-disciplinary performance. 
Selected artists have access to live and work in one of our historic cottages, with studio space available in our Dance Center. At the end of each residency, artists share their work with the community in a culminating work-in-progress performance.

Works & Process, a non-profit performing arts organization that champions artists and their creative process from studio to stage, announces its first-ever Residency Open Call. Applications from New York City-based artists will be accepted from March 18 through April 22, 2025 for out-of-town residencies that will take place from October 2025-May 2026.

Dance/USA announces 50 Finalists for their Dance/USA Fellowships to Artists (DFA) program.

DFA supports dance and movement-based artists from across the U.S. and its territories who work at the intersection of social and embodied practices. DFA Finalists are invited to submit a full application for the program; 25 Round Three Artist Fellows will be selected by a national peer-review panel and announced in October of 2025. 

The 50 Finalists are listed on the Dance/USA website.

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
