New York Live Arts’ Fresh Tracks Residency & Performance program is a season-long residency for emerging movement-based artists in support of new work creation and professional development.

This season marks the 60th year of Fresh Tracks, which was a signature program of Dance Theater Workshop created in 1965 to bring new choreographic artistry to the forefront.

Four artists will be selected for the program and receive a 50-hour studio residency, $5,000 fee, guidance from Artistic Advisor Juliana May, professional development workshops led by renowned professionals from the field, exclusive access to Live Arts’ Communications, Development, Production and Programming staff, a Live Core Artist Membership and a fully-produced shared program in the New York Live Arts theater.

L'Alliance New York presents its annual Bastille Day celebration under the theme of the Paris Summer Games! Inclued will be the reenactment of the 1967 performance of Blank Placard Dance, replay by French choreographer Anne Collod. "Originally created by Anna Halprin in response to the Vietnam war and social unrest in the U.S., Anne Collod remounts this seminal work for 30 amateur dancers carrying blank signs accompanied by a marching band heading uptown. Following the original dance’s protocol, Bastille Day audiences are invited to participate by proposing statements for the blank placards: What would YOU like written on these signs? Exploring the place of performance in urban settings, this participatory project demonstrates the enduring power of art across generations at the crossroads of happenings, dance, and activist art," notes the release.  Attendees can also join in games, film screenings, an interactive photography exhibition, dance to a live DJ, savor rosé and bubbly, and more. The American Tap Dance Foundation (ATDF)

It's time to apply for the UP NEXT! Artist Pitch Session. Deadline is Tuesday, August 13.

Happening at the APAP|NYC 2025 conference, the UP NEXT! Artist Pitch Session will highlight new projects from artists or companies from the U.S. and abroad. All are encouraged to apply! 

Eligible projects are:

US tour-ready for the 2025-26 presenting season (typically Sept-June),
AND 
Have not premiered yet or premiered no earlier than August 31, 2024
​AND
Pitch must focus on one specific project/program. It cannot cover an agency’s roster or multiple program options.

Artists, producers, agents and managers are invited to apply by Tuesday, August 13 at 11:59 p.m. (EDT). While APAP membership is not required to apply, if selected, participant must become an APAP member. Read the full guidelines here.

AUDITION: Catherine Turocy and The New York Baroque Dance Company ~ 8/7

Looking for virtuosic dance artists living in the NYC metropolitan area to perform for engagements with NYBDC including a film, performances and demonstrations. Applicants should have training in the genres of Ballet and Modern. Experience in historical dance techniques and acting would be a plus. 

Date: August 7th, 2024.

Video Submission Deadline: This Audition is INVITATION ONLY. Applicants should submit a video for review to [email protected] by July 7th, 2024. Video may be of you in studio or performance (must be solo or easily identified), 2-3 minutes of footage. Invited candidates will be notified with audition location and times.

Expectations for dance artists: Learning and retaining the choreography and aesthetic of the movement. Being prepared to dance assigned roles and the ability to maintain physical capacity to dance and perform.

Salary/Wage: Ranges from $20 to $25/hour for rehearsals or $750 to $1000 for weekly engagements. Payment range is based on experience. Dancers are hired on a per project basis as we have a variety of subjects in our repertoire ranging from historical ballroom to stage dancing requiring acting technique.

Must be able to work in the U.S.

Known for our electrifying work and dynamic community dances, K+C will enliven Vail International Dance Festival's Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater with Rhapsody, developed by and in community, featuring dancers and non-dancers, young and old alike.

No previous dance experience required -- just enthusiasm and energy. Find new ways of moving, dance alongside your neighbors, have the opportunity to perform, and have fun!

Rhapsody will harness the unique spirit and talents of its diverse cast of performers to create a moving outdoor celebration of art-making, humanity, and shared space.

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
