AATT Academy seeks an experienced hiphop teacher for Fall 2016. Must have experience working with public school elementary school students. Classes are every other week from October 17-December 14. AATT ACADEMY TEACHING ASSISTANT Location: Bronx, NY Department: Programming Type: Seasonal/Part Time BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting edge and challenging works in contemporary dance and all creative disciplines that are empowering to women, Latinos and other people of color, and the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) communities. BAAD!’s newest initiative is the AATT Academy, a dance education program for students ages 6 to 9 years based on the dance training of our Artistic Director, Arthur Aviles. BAAD! seeks an AATT Academy Teaching Assistant. The Teaching Assistant works closely with the Education Coordinator and is responsible for onsite coordination of the AATT Academy so that each student receives exemplary instruction in dance. Some teaching may be required but is not the focus of the position. TheTeaching Assistant will serve as a direct contact for parents and guardians and the larger BAAD! community. The Teaching Assistant position is no fewer than 10 hours a week sometimes reaching 15 hours per week. Compensation is $15/hour. Official start date no later than October 3, 2016. Women of Color in the Arts (WOCA) LOS ANGELESTuesday, August 30 7:00pm Watch out, LA! WOCA will present its inaugural Cali event at the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. Hosted by WOCA member Elena Muslar, this session serves to connect West Coast administrators and ignite dialogue about how arts leaders are navigating through real world issues like gender and racial bias, and how we can collectively work to strengthen and sustain broad participation of women of color in the field. WOCA will also discuss our upcoming initiatives, provide insight on how to become a member, and make space to meet and greet fellow cultural workers throughout the region. WOCA Co-Founder Kaisha S. Choreographer/Composer Networking September 25 at 3:00 pm Rescheduled from March, our Choreographer/Composer Networking event will take place September 25, 3:00-6:00 pm, at GK ArtsCenter. PRE-REGISTRATION BYSEPTEMBER 15 IS REQUIRED! We want to make sure there'll be enough people there and have time to send the participants some advance info about each other. This is a great opportunity to find new collaborators and explore new networks and new artistic horizons! The event will include: – Advance links and info about the other participants so you can arrive with some familiarity with their work. (You'll provide this information when you register.) – A “speed dating”-style opportunity for each choreographer to meet all the composers, and vice versa. – Group discussion on artistic, logistical, and financial issues of collaboration.
