Modern/contemporary choreographer is casting 4-7 women and 3 men to develop new works during residency at BAAD! The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance.
One-day Audition:
- Saturday, January 9th 2016, 12-3pm

Casting for 2 dance works:
4-5 female dancers; 1 male dancer of color, ideally 5’8” and up (but all candidates will be considered!)
1-2 female dancers and 2-3 male dancers.
Description of work:
Filip A. Condeescu presents an evening of works at The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance as the culmination of his 2015-2016 BAAD! Artist in Residence. Filip is currently choreographing a new work, Togetherness Quintet, about overcoming adversity through the power of camaraderie, companionship and solidarity. The quintet includes 4 men and 1 woman. Filip will also be restaging his repertory work Perpetuum. This 7-dancer piece (5 women, 2 men) is a parable on the dangers of societies stuck in a spiral of dysfunction and destruction, and how far they are willing to go when threatened by a shift in consciousness.
Filip’s works are often non-linear narratives that capture and portray real characters and human stories (as opposed to, for example, purely abstract movement and forms using the human body as the medium). He is particularly intrigued by dancers’ personae and their energies. Dancers should be open to expressive storytelling and a fearlessness to portray the complexities of the individual psyche and social mechanisms.
