BAM's annual DanceAfrica, the country's largest showcase of African dance, returns to the Howard Gilman Opera House this May with DanceAfrica 2022: HOMEGROWN. Under the artistic direction of Abdel R. Salaam, dancers, drummers, and musicians take the stage together in a unique program that features five popular companies making return visits. Each company will offer their homegrown vision of traditional African dances. Now in its 45th year, DanceAfrica celebrates its bright future and its deep roots. Below is the schedule of featured companies with extended performances:

NYCB’s 2022 spring season will include an array of programs featuring works by the Company’s co-Founding Choreographers – Serenade by George Balanchine and The Goldberg Variations by Jerome Robbins. Programs will also feature works by Silas Farley, Jamar Roberts (Emanon – In Two Movements), Pam Tanowitz (Gustave le Gray No. 1), featuring Dancers from New York City Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem, plus Balanchine’s Allegro Brillante, Divertimento No. 15, The Four Temperaments, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream; and Robbins’ Afternoon of a Faun, The Four Seasons, and more.
