Back to live and in-person events, the NYC Tap Festival, the American Tap Dance Foundation's week-long tap festival returns with tap dance workshops, performances and special events including the “Copasetic” Boat Ride (July 6), Tap Future performances and ATDF Tap Dance Awards (July 8), Rhythm in Motion concert (July 9) and “Tap It Out” (July 10).
Directed and Curated by ATDF Artistic Director Tony Waag, the Rhythm in Motion concert ill showcase "boundary breaking" tappers and choreographers, and will include: Jared Alexander, Vikas Arun, Felipe Galganni, Dexter Jones, Kaleena Miller, Ivan Owens, Demi Remick, Tamii Sakurai, and the ACM Collective. The Festival will close with TAP IT OUT a free, public outdoor tap dance event at Father Duffy Square/Times Square. Find out more here

kosoko, the Nigerian American author, performance artist, and curator of Yoruba and Natchez descent will perform Black Body Amnesia, "Inspired by Audre Lorde’s concept of biomythography, Kosoko mixes personal history, biography, and mythology to tell a complex narrative rooted within a queer, Black, self-defined, and feminist imagination," according to the release. For the 18th annual Ladies of Hip-Hop Festival, the community offers a five-day Festival with a panel discussion, workshops, and performances. The five-day Festival kicks off July 13 with an opening reception and continues with a MAKING HERSTORY panel discussion; two days of workshops; and two nights of performances. The One-on-One Hip-Hop, Breaking, Waacking and House Battle closes the Festival. Find out more here
