Now, as mobile technology empowers a new generation of filmmakers, 92Y announces submissions are open for the 92Y Mobile Dance Film Festival, the first dance film festival featuring works shot entirely on mobile devices. The 92Y Mobile Dance Film Festival explores the magic that happens at the intersection of choreography, camerawork and editing — revealing new dimensions in movement and offering intimate access and up-close perspectives on the physical and spatial dynamics of dance. It’s dance and film as never experienced before. Ten films, selected by an international jury of dance filmmakers, will be screened on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 92Y Harkness Dance Center. Location: Off site location: PS 36. Bronx, NY Department: Programming Type: Seasonal/Part Time BAAD! Bronx Academy of Arts & Dance creates, produces, presents, and supports the development of cutting edge and challenging works in contemporary dance and all creative disciplines that are empowering to women, Latinos and other people of color, and the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) communities. BAAD!’s newest initiative is the AATT Academy, a dance education program for students ages 6 to 9 years based on the dance training of our Artistic Director, Arthur Aviles. The AATT Academy is currently seeking dedicated Teaching Artists for our 2018 AFTER SCHOOL DANCE PROGRAM AT PS 36 located at 1070 Castle Hill Ave, Bronx, NY 10472. We are looking for Teaching Artists who specialize in their genre of expertise and have experience teaching elementary school children. We are interested in the following genres: GYMNASTICS, WEST AFRICAN, BALLET The Teaching Artist works closely with the Dance Education Coordinator and is responsible for ensuring that each student receives exemplary instruction in dance. The AATT Afterschool program at PS 36 runs from MARCH 20th - JUNE 8th. The schedule: Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri from 2:50 - 4pm.Can commit to one or more days. Student Try Out dates are March 13th and March 16th from 2:50 - 3:00pm. Teaching Artists must be present for Try Out dates. Each teaching artist will be supported by two teaching artists who support each other in classroom management. Compensation: $65 per class DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides clear instruction in the basic technique of the genre taught. (Beginner level). Has strong classroom management skills and creates a sense of discipline and respect among all students. Provides a concise dance class structure ie. safe and proper warm-up, skill building. Ensures that the warm up is consistent with building the skills they will be learning. Is able to clearly demonstrate and communicate the movement technique, intention, and meaning of the dance. Able to create a short demonstration for SHARING DAY on June 8th. Provides ongoing constructive feedback to students, following a positive reinforcement policy. Maintains AATT 5 Core Values within the classroom culture: Celebrate Individuality, Celebrate Diversity, There’s Freedom Within Structure, Always Think in the Fabulous Realm, Dance Together as a Community. Able to create and execute 15 minute classes and collaborate with supporting teaching artists to create smooth transitions from one genre to the next. QUALIFICATIONS: Personable, friendly, and comfortable working with small children and their parents Strong classroom management and leadership skills. Displays a passion for dance and pedagogy. At least 2 years of dance teaching experience. Degree in dance education preferred but not required. Commitment to the duration of the program. Punctuality is a must. Ability to demonstrate multi-tasking skills in quickly handing concerns and handling problems. Fluent in English. Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
