Dear Friends,

The Actors Fund is proud to announce that The Samuel J. Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts will open for our community this coming March!

The Friedman Health Center for the Performing Arts is the medical care provider for New York City’s entertainment and performing arts community. Operated in partnership with The Actors Fund and Mount Sinai Doctors and conveniently located in Times Square at The Fund's main office (729 Seventh Avenue, 12th Floor), The Friedman Health Center is the only health center in New York City solely focused on the particular health care needs of those who work in performing arts and entertainment. It will offer primary and specialty care, expedited referrals within the Mount Sinai Health System, extended hours for our atypical industry schedules and continuity of care for those who experience regular changes in health insurance coverage. The Friedman will accept most insurance plans, with free and unbiased health insurance enrollment and counseling available on site.
As a valued union partner and/or leader in our performing arts and entertainment community, we’ve put together a Marketing Toolkit to support your efforts to share this information and ongoing updates on The Health Center with your members and constituents. The Toolkit includes a press release, sample newsletter and social media postings, contacts to request print materials or ads, brief promotional videos and more.

You can visit The Friedman Health Center webpage to view our announcement from Chairman Brian Stokes Mitchell and other friends in the creative community. To make an appointment, call 212.489.1939.

Many in our community are worried about their insurance coverage and what the new administration will mean for the health care landscape. In a time of such uncertainty, you can count on The Actors Fund.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like one of our representatives to visit your union or organization with more information on the new Health Center, on our personalized health insurance counseling, guidance and enrollment support, or on our full suite of free and confidential programs and services.
Meantime, we’ll continue to share new and updated materials to the toolkit in the coming weeks to help you to share the news.

Warm regards,
David

I'll be blunt and get right to the three points of this article. Point 1. Health care and health insurance should be separated. Point 2. If it weren't for the fact that health insurance has come to mean health care for most Americans there would be no health care reform. Point 3. The only way to fix America's health care once and for all is to bifurcate health care and health insurance as they should be.

So much emphasis is placed on health and wellness these days it seems every where you turn you see or hear something about one or both of them. Have you ever considered what the terms health and wellness mean? Health, as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO) is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity (abnormal condition).
