The MET
July13-15
Ballet Hispánico, under artistic director and CEO Eduardo Vilaro will perform Vilaro's Buscando a Juan ("Looking for Juan") as part of the Summer 2023 MetLiveArts season at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Vilaro reacts to the ideas presented in the exhibit "Juan de Pareja: Afro-Hispanic Painter" and "...explores the "sancocho"—literally, mixed soup—of cultures and diasporas. Through the exoticized body and fixation on gesture and sensuality, Buscando a Juan will consider the assumptions experienced when witnessing people of color in traditionally white spaces," according to the release.
