Merce Cunningham Early Works + Screening of Cunningham Ballett 1958

This celebration of Merce Cunningham will feature live performances by former Cunningham dancer Silas Riener in the N.Y. Premiere of the reconstructed solo Changeling (1957), and Vanessa Knouse and Benny Olk in Suite for Two (1958). The film, "Cunningham Ballett 1958," will feature footage of solos and duets danced by Cunningham and Carolyn Brown, with piano music performed by David Tudor and John Cage. Find out more here

The La MaMa Moves Festival – Various Artists

There will be nine world premieres and three American premieres provoked by “…contemporary issues of gender, current ideas about the environment, questions about politics and culture are threaded through the works of the 17 artists,” notes the release.   The international lineup includes: Suk Soon Jung (Korea); Amanda Loulaki (Greek-born); Yvonne Meier (Swiss-born); Afshin Varjavandi (Italy); Sonia Olla (Spanish-born); Silvana Cardell (Argentinian-born); Jeremy Nelson (British-born); Luis Lara-Malvacias (Venezuelan-born); Poorna Swami (Indian-born); Bruno Isakovic (Croatian); Ori Flomin (Israeli-born) and Helena Franzen (Swedish).  Find out more here

This season will feature works by artist in residence, Alexei Ratmansky including Seven Sonatas (world premiere), The Golden Cockerel (American premiere) and repertory works,Firebird and The Sleeping Beauty.  Also featured will be Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée and Sylvia plus works by Kenneth MacMillan, Kevin McKenzie and others.  Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
