The Shed Announced 27 New York City Artists for the Second Open Call - Beginning Summer 202112/9/2020 The Shed's second Open Call, a large-scale, commissioning program for early-career artists across performance, visual arts, and popular culture was announced. Each artist, who lives or works in the five boroughs, was selected by The Shed along with 50 external industry professionals and artists across disciplines to create and present new work at The Shed beginning in summer 2021 and continuing into 2022. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre Virtual Season December 2 – 31 The season will feature a variety of special programs each available online for a one-week period and open to all. Ailey’s extraordinary dancers will elevate a legacy of innovation and excellence in artistry with a reimagined season featuring premieres by Ailey’s Resident Choreographer Jamar Roberts; and Associate Artistic Director Matthew Rushing, in partnership with Company member and Assistant to the Rehearsal Director Clifton Brown, and former Company member Yusha-Marie Sorzano; a variety of other special programs; and a series of BattleTalk conversations, moderated by Artistic Director Robert Battle.
