Various Artists - The Hip Hop Nutcracker

Rap legend Kurtis Blow is special guest MC for this hip-hop holiday mash-up which returns for the second year. A dozen dancers, an electric violinist, and digital scenery bring the traditional Nutcracker story to life in a contemporary urban setting. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber from the hip-hop company Decadancetheatre. Adaptations are by Mike Fitelson with hip-hop interludes remixed and re-imagined by DJ Boo.  Find out more here

Week’ Delirious Dances returns to Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden as part of the Performance Arts Salon Saturdays (PASS) series which “…focus[es] on original music, dance, theater and multimedia productions in various stages of development.,” notes the release.  Weeks and her company, Delirious Dances, will perform “…Three Rites, a work which integrates dance, text and interactive art to explore life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” adds the release.  A pre-performance reception happens at 5:00 PM and a post-performance artist talk will follow.  Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
