Former dancer with the Martha Graham Dance Company, Orihara will premiere the second incarnation of her multi-media work, evening-length solo work, In the Box 2 (ITB2) “… Using cutting edge animations and projections from Japan…[and]…juxtaposing three-dimensional sounds and images with the flesh and bones of a dancer and her moving shadow.” "ITB2 follows the 2015 premiere of ITB which explored the paradox of “Where Technology Meets the Body” inspired by Schrödinger‘s cat (quantum mechanics). ITB2 picks up where its predecessor left off and opens the book of our lives in a paradoxical nature. [Finally] ITB2 explores human nature by mixing the human body with technology,” explains Orihara. The film, “SlowDancing/TrioA” by artist Michalek, in collaboration with choreographer, Rainer, “… seeks to create an unusual motion picture record of Rainer's iconic dance-work, Trio A, which she created in 1966,” notes the release. There is a cast of 46 dancers includes original dancers Pat Catterson, Emily Coates, Stephen Petronio, Richard Move, David Thomson, Wendy Whelan and younger generations of dancers, many of whom are students of the original dancers.
