Isolation to Creation Docuseries/Works & Process at the Guggenheim

Airing on WNET's ALL ARTS "This past Summer and Fall amidst widespread cancellations, Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, itself facing a shuttered theater, forged a path for artists to safely gather, create and perform together again. Pioneering and producing bubble residencies that have since been widely duplicated, over fifty artists entered eight Works & Process bubble residencies in rural Hudson Valley after an unprecedented period of isolation," from the release.  Find out more here

Kinesis Project dance theatre

In an evening of an experiment in bi-coastal live performances titled Search(light), dancers on each coast will perform simultaneously, live from the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York and the Kay White Hall at Vashon Center for the Arts on Vashon Island, Washington. Find out  more here

Maria Bauman-Morales’ Desire: A Sankofa Dream
January 22 and 23

Co-commissioned with the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!) and 651 ARTS, Bauman-Morales created Desire… as a “…site responsive and interactive work designed as a healing performance-ritual built around Black queer survival techniques and tailored specifically for Zoom incorporating dance, original text and installation - pushing the boundaries of live, online artwork.” Bauman-Morales says the piece is part scored improvisation, part choreography, part visual design and part choose-your-own-adventure. Coverture with Tess Dworman in collaboration with Angie Pittman, a series of conversations and improvised performances, in three nights. Dworman will perform a duet with a different guest artist: John Maria Gutierrez, Miguel Gutierrez, and Martita Abril.

The masterworks series that where legendary works are revered for their narrative, movement language, intentionality and continued relevance to audiences and societal conversations.  Featuring Dance Theatre of Harlem in Geoffrey Holder's DOUGLA performed by the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company with guest artists, Paunika Jones, Malik Berry and Collage Dance Collective.  Find out more here

mayfield brooks and Dohee Lee share an evening in “HANG TIME.” Dohee and mayfield will share aspects of their work that relates to the land and the role of ancestors in their work. This event is a meeting with the artists and an open-ended digital

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
