Returning to the stage after two years of a digital season, Dance Theatre of Harlem (DTH) brings three programs to City Center as part of the City Center Dance Festival. Slated for the season are the New York premieres of Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Balamouk featuring live accompaniment by The Klezmatics, Resident Choreographer Robert Garland's Higher Ground, set to music by Stevie Wonder and Claudia Schreier's Passage.  Also on the program is the Odalisques Variations from Le Corsaire staged by company artist Dylan Santos after Marius Petipa.  ​Find out more here

TERRITORY: The Island Remembers is a multidisciplinary, audience-interactive performance project and installation. The installation will be activated with three nights of rituals, performance, and audience-interactive actions. As part of the City Center Dance Festival, the Martha Graham Dance Company will present Graham masterworks Appalachian Spring and Chronicle, the world premiere of CAVE by Hofesh Shechter, and the New York premiere of a new Canticle for Innocent Comedians by Sonya Tayeh. Find out more here

Jones returns to JACK with a new performance work, dark de luxe: a mess for body, shadow and other rogue im/materials. "Swerving between forms, against containment, dark de luxe is unruly, maybe turbulent. Something like a fall. And a few are dancing," according to the release.  Find out more here

In the evening titled "No Diving 2," Storyboard P will share two freestyle solo performances in his signature style that "...offers a revolutionary understanding of gravity, in which bodies are sanctuaries that float—able to teleport, disappear, appear," according to the release. Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet

Magloire's Company will be joined by the Philadelphia-based Variant 6 Vocal Ensemble for the NY premiere of Magloire's Munu Munu.  Find out more here

In Lieber and Smith's Gloria, they continue their "...fifteen-year choreographic partnership in using abstract dance as a means to break down patriarchal systems of female degradation through physical objectification," according to the release.  Find out more here
 
Kristin Hatleberg and BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance

Hatleberg will present Choreographed by Clouds and Fellion will premiere Continually Healing as part of Take Root 2022.  Find out more here

The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company and Flushing Town Hall brings back The CrossCurrent Asian American Choreographer Festival.  Chosen from a panel of Asian artist selected emerging artists to be featured are:  Yuki Ishiguro, Chaery Moon, Chien-Ying Wang, Linda Kuo, Seyong Kim, Linda Kuo, Mamiko Nakatsugawa, and Rathi Varma.  Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
