Naidu will act as an advisor to the organization through June 30, 2015 to ensure a smooth transition. DTH will conduct a national search to identify a new Executive Director. In the interim, Sharon Gersten Luckman, former executive director of the Alvin Ailey Foundation, will work with Artistic Director Virginia Johnson, the DTH Board of Trustees and staff during this transition period.
Full Statement from Naidu:
“It has been a unique privilege and honor to serve this institution - a true labor of love. During my time as Executive Director, together with an extraordinary group of people, including my partner Artistic Director Virginia Johnson, the most dedicated staff and faculty, dancers, the Board of Directors, funders, parents and neighbors, we resurrected an organization sorely needed in America. My sincere thanks and appreciation go to Arthur Mitchell and Karel Shook - our founders - and every single person who has aided in bringing the power of DTH to Harlem and the world. There is much, much more to come. As I look forward to my next chapter, I will always be lifted by the life changing experience that is DTH.”
