Dear Fellow Movers and Shakers,
I’m reaching out about an upcoming opportunity to dance with me! If this particular opportunity doesn’t fit your life or interests, please feel free to pass it along to anyone who may be interested.
As many of you already know, my multifaceted work takes me all over the country and the world teaching, choreographing, speaking, staging works, designing, and creating. As I look to a fresh New Year, I aim to share my travels and work more often, so you know what I’m up to and so we can dream up more opportunities for collaboration, sharing, and growth.
As a former member of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company I am lucky enough to continue my work with Bill through re-staging of iconic works and, occasionally, the creation of new work. I am currently seeking dancers who identify as men of color to join me as one of the community members that I will bring in to work on the project with me and the Company. We are seeking dancers ages 16-70. For your participation with this project in January, we can offer you an honorarium of $100.
PLEASE NOTE: if you cannot participate in this work but would be interested in future opportunities to dance together, please reach out. I am always interested in creating space for men of color to move, create, and communicate, together.
The Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company is creating a new work, titled Deep Blue Sea which will premiere in Spring 2020 in New York City. Deep Blue Sea will explore the relationship of loneliness as it pertains to, or contrasts to group identity. The work will be divided into three sections: a solo for Bill T. Jones which evolves over time into an ensemble of ten performers (Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company) that further expands into a community of one hundred people.”
