We seek an artist/scholar committed to creative research, progressive pedagogical practice, and a colleague who will contribute to our ongoing anti-racist efforts and curriculum redesign. We are interested in adventurous thinkers with clear research interests and inventive trajectories. The successful candidate should have a passion for broadening perspectives on dance and promoting the importance of the form in contemporary culture. We welcome applications from artist/scholars from multiple genres of dance practice and performance.
 
Candidate must have a demonstrated record of achievement in dance; a focused research trajectory in dance-related scholarship, choreography, and/or performance; strong written and oral communication skills; interest in mentoring students and in making a positive impact toward diversity and inclusion.  MFA (and or equivalent experience) or PHD preferred.

The Department of Dance at the University of Illinois offers BFA, BA and MFA degrees as well as a Graduate Minor in Dance.  Accredited by the National Association for Schools of Dance, Dance at Illinois has nine tenure track faculty, approximately 60 Undergrads and 12 MFA students. Our award-winning resident performers, scholars, choreographers, and educators build on a 50-plus year tradition of innovative work and thoughtful leadership in the field.  Dance at Illinois produces five concert series each year at the world-class Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.  The Department of Dance is a part of the College of Fine and Applied Arts, an unusual mix of arts-based disciplines including Art and Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Music, Theatre, and Urban Planning.
 
Dance faculty and students also work within a rich campus environment for research and community-partnered learning, supported by an array of top-tier centers, institutes, and academic departments. As the flagship campus within the state university system, UIUC is a Research I university, and one of the first institutions to receive the Carnegie Foundation’s Classification for Community Engagement.     I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer. I am a Empire State College's online program Center for Distance Learning.  I am also a former faculty member at The Ailey School and the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University dance major program, Hunter College, Sarah Lawrence College (Guest), Kean University and The Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program.  I write on dance for The Amsterdam News, Dance Magazine and various publications.  Click below to read more about me at my home page - "About Me."
