A LETTER FROM DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING SIMONE ECCLESTON:
Dear Harlem Stage Community,
For more than eleven years it has been my distinct pleasure to work for Harlem Stage. Having the opportunity to work for an organization with an institutional mission that is so closely aligned with my own has been one of the most rewarding and gratifying experiences of my life. Being charged to shape its programmatic vision and artistic direction through the lens of our steadfast commitment to support visionary artists of color who create innovative work has been both inspirational and transformative.
In the spirit of growth, I am writing to advise you of my transition from Harlem Stage as of Friday, March 3, 2017 to embark on an exciting new chapter in my career as the Director of Hip Hop Culture and Contemporary Music at the Kennedy Center.
To the Harlem Stage Artist Family—Thank you for providing me with the opportunity to serve as a steward for your creative visions, a celebrant and propagator of your ideas and a builder of community.
I am profoundly grateful and will carry the organization, its tenets and the experiences that I have had here with me, always.

It is with a combination of regret and pride that I write to acknowledge the departure of our Director of Programming, Simone Eccleston, with whom I have had the privilege of working for over 11 years. Her passion for the work that we do and the artists that we have nurtured and presented is exceptional. I know that she will continue to grow and thrive, infusing our field with the visions and voices of artists of color to build a truly diverse and equitable American culture. Of course Harlem Stage will continue our commitment to those same values, nurturing artists, presenting and producing their new and innovative work and providing a bridge from Harlem's rich artistic legacy to a contemporary creative and engaged community.
