The Company will present the second season of “Bloodlines,” "...a multiyear project that embraces significant works by inspirational trailblazers of American postmodern dance. This season will feature Trisha Brown’s Glacial Decoy (1979), a dance for five women which uses the edges of the stage …to magnify the reach of dance beyond its frame,” notes the release, and her first work for the proscenium stage.  Also slated for the season is Petronio’s MiddleSexGorge (1990), celebrating their 25th anniversary, and the premiere of Big Daddy (Deluxe).  Find out more here

Abrons Art Center
March 9-12
Norway’s Strømgren Kompani returns to New York with The Hospital described as a “…darkly humorous mix of dance and theater…set in a remote, empty hospital where three nurses try to endure the lack of patients by injuring then treating each other,” according to the release.  Find out more here
 
Stacy Grossfield Dance

March 9 – 13
Grossfield will premiere hot dark matter, “…a work made specifically for JACK’s architecture, with the choreographer and her collaborators molding the performance space into a murky, surreal dreamscape," notes the release.  Find out more here

A program of company favorites and the world premiere of a work set to a new version of classic jazz standards including "I'm Old Fashioned" by Jerome Kern is promised.   Find out more here

The Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble

March 9-13 
In a program of works by legendary modern dance choreographer Anna Sokolow, the Company will present Ride the Culture Loop, created in 1975 and the premiere of We Remember by guest choreographer and former company member Rae Ballard.   Other Sokolow works slated for this season are Steps of Silence (1968) and Kurt Weill (1988).  Find out more here
 
The Flamenco Festival

For a bit more than two full weeks, The Flamenco Festival returns to New York with performances at BAM, Town Hall, Carnegie Hall, New York City Center and Joe’s Pub featuring Farruquito, Compañía Manuel Liñán, Compañía Rocío Molina, Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía and Nélida Tirado, to name only a few.   Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
