Conceived by j. bouey, S A T U R N: A Revelation “introduces the Inter-Dimensional Time-Traveling Disco Space Opera Dance Band: “The Living Ancestors,” and is an immersive dance performance installation, direct action for community support, and multi-camera live broadcast…” according to the release. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

On their return to NJPAC, the Company will present Amy Hall Garner’s CENTURY; Elizabeth Roxas-Dobrish’s Me, Myself and You, and Alonzo King’s Following the Subtle Current Upstream.  Also, in celebration of Max Roach’s Centennial, the company will perform Survivors, a 1986 work set to Max Roach’s drumming and Abbey Lincoln’s vocals. Each performance ends with Ailey’s signature masterpiece, Revelations.  Find out more here

The season closes with the contemporary dance program titled "Beyond Ballet, Beyond Hip-Hop," and offers two North American premiere pieces: Dying Swan & Its Cause of Death, by Japanese prima ballerina Hana Sakai and Encounter, by the hip-hop-centered dance group MWMW led by Moto Takahashi.  Find out more here

Asia Society collaborates with World Music Institute for "Dancing the Gods," an annual festival of Indian dance celebrating its 13th year, featuring Kasi Aysola & Archana Raja, and Rama Vaidyanathan..     I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer. I am a Empire State College's online program Center for Distance Learning.  I am also a former faculty member at The Ailey School and the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University dance major program, Hunter College, Sarah Lawrence College (Guest), Kean University and The Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program.  I write on dance for The Amsterdam News, Dance Magazine and various publications.  Click below to read more about me at my home page - "About Me."
