Described as “A quietly thrilling meditation on music, light, and movement …within the hushed, meditative sound world of Morton Feldman’s 1981 solo piano piece Triadic Memories,” Framing Time (World Premiere) is choreographed and performed by Gelabert.  Noted as one of the most influential figures in Spanish contemporary dance, for this special return to the U.S., Gelabert's Framing Time is performed with Pedja Muzijevic on piano.  The set and lighting design is by Burke Brown, and costume design is by Lydia Azzopardi. Garth Fagan Dance

Garth Fagan Dance brings his blend of modern dance, ballet and Afro-Caribbean rhythms and movements in three programs of world premieres and repertory. The world premieres are: The North Star by Fagan, “…a celebration of the life of 19th-century abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass,” and Distant Kin, by 40-year Company veteran Norwood Pennewell. Rounding out the program is Fagan’s Prelude: Discipline is Freedom (1983), From Before (1978), In Memoriam (20011), and Mudan 175/39 (2009).  Find out more here

“This diverse group of female performers partners with door jambs, end tables, window sills and the audience in dutiful, wild, uncomfortable, funny and surprising explorations through the 'Female Gaze', 'Touch Preferences/Consent' and the 'Audience Sex/Cleaning Survey' in Sex Status 2.0," notes the release. Sex Status 2.0 is performed in private homes throughout NYC. Find out more here

In Jersey City at the landmark Loew’s, in partnership with Art House Productions and Friends of Loew’s, the 9th annual “Your Move: Modern Dance Festival” will present works by Kyle Marshall, Felicia Avalos, Lauren Connolly, Gwendolyn Gussman, Joe Monteleone, Patrick O'Brien, Javier Padilla, Ambika Raina, Morgan Refakis, Jordan Ryder, Phoebe Sandford, Adriana Santoro, and Shannon Yu 余香儒.  Find out more here

The Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance (BAAD!)

Presented with Pepatian, the annual multidisciplinary festival, “BlakTinX Performance Series” will feature Colemancollective in Fruit Punch, with live and recorded audio including the sounds of a school yard, recited statistics, dissonant statistics.  Find out more here

Waltz and guests will present the U.S. premiere of Kreatur  a collaboration with Dutch artist and fashion designer Iris van Herpen, the experimental music trio Soundwalk Collective, and lighting designer Urs Schönebaum. Kreatur “…embodies Waltz’s evolving concentration on the relationship between the individual and the group,” notes the release.  Find out more here

Under artistic director and co-founder, Astrid von Ussar, The Dance Gallery Festival returns featuring works by more than 25 artists including: Ad Deum Dance, Amanda Krische, Amy Diane Morrow - The Theorists, Chien-Ying Wang/ OcampoWang Dance/JueDai Contemporary Dance Theatre, Vanessa Owen-Stewart/Owen Dance and more (11/2); “Level UP” -  Cameron McKinney,  Victoria DeRenzo/Jared Doster, Manuel Vignoulle – M/motions, Joshua L. Peugh/Dark Circles Contemporary Dance (11/3); DRE.SPEAKS, Eoghan Dillon, GREYZONE/Lindy Fines, Joshua Manculich, and Manuel Vignoulle - M/motions (11/3); and for “The Main Event” - Joshua Manculich, Manuel Vignoulle - M/motions, and more.  Performances will take place at Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center, and at the Ailey Citigroup Theater.  Find out more here

Francesca Todesco, a longtime member of Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble and Dances by Isadora, celebrates 20 years with members of the Sokolow Ensemble, Dances by Isadora, and Thoughts in Motion Dance Company in dances by Isadora Duncan, Anna Sokolow, Catherine Gallant, Jim May and Rae Ballard.     I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer. I am a Empire State College's online program Center for Distance Learning.  I am also a former faculty member at The Ailey School and the Alvin Ailey/Fordham University dance major program, Hunter College, Sarah Lawrence College (Guest), Kean University and The Joffrey Ballet School's Jazz and Contemporary Trainee Program.  I write on dance for The Amsterdam News, Dance Magazine and various publications.  Click below to read more about me at my home page - "About Me."
