Peak Performances
February 6-9
David Rousseve returns to Peak Performances in Montclair, New Jersey with the premiere of Stardust. “Stardust explores the evolving nature of intimacy in our technology-driven world. Redefining the coming-of-age story for the digital age, the piece follows an African-American gay urban teenager who is present only by the emotionally laden text messages he sends, by the music that both comforts and challenges him, and by the dance movements that reflect his states of mind and heart,” according to the release. In addition to choreography and words by Roussève, there is also video art by Cari Ann Shim Sham, original music and sound design by d. Sabela grimes, plus songs of Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis and Ella Fitzgerald. I will be conducting the community “TalkBack” on Saturday night.
