On this program of “Work Up” (3.3), Gibney Dance’s performance series which presents short works by dance and performance artists on a shared bill. Fraser will present Stillbirth where “mythic dreams of ovarian teratomas and the vagina dentata collide with Caribbean Carnival practices,” then “A series of physical micro-worlds emerge and dissolve in Graczyk’s solo, Beast,” and finally, martohardjono’s GENERAL DYNAMICS… will offer “…a ‘safe space’ for somatic survival in the era of information overload,” according to the release. In collaboration with director and visual designer Peter Born, Okpokwasili will premiere Poor People’s TV Room “…informed by two historic incidents in Nigeria: The Women’s War of 1929, a resistance movement against British colonial powers, and the Boko Haram kidnappings of more than 300 girls that launched the Bring Back Our Girls movement,” notes the release.
