Triskelion Arts
March 9 – 10
This season, Elisa Monte Dance (EMD) “…has moved into a creative realm of audience interaction and immersion with their latest works.” Two world premieres marks this new direction. First up is the debut of The Best Self Project at Triskelion. A 45-minute, full length work, The Best Self Project, “…centers on the theme of civil society and how one actualizes their best self through their work, deeds and actions. With an atypical approach, led by emcee Darren Biggart, this is a social gathering of audience members, interrupted by dance. An experience guided by movement, music, live vocals, and comedy club-like improv vignettes, the evening focuses on issues of equality, race, politics, and identity; concepts that have been at the forefront of Rea-Fisher’s industry discussions over the last several months. With a solo dancer opening the work en pointe, contemporary modern vocabulary will define this new work, with a hint of 90’s hip-hop influence as well,” according to the release. Later, May 26 – 27, EMD will present the second work, After Dark Featuring Twelve45, at Joe’s Pub. Choreography is by newly appointed artistic director, Tiffany Rea-Fisher. Find out more here
