Presented by Madison Square Park Conservancy, this second installment of Thomson’s The Voyeurs “…involves new characters and narratives instigated by what was seen from afar. Eavesdrop on a phone conversation as two people struggle to untangle issues of race, gender, desire and violence within our complex cultural history,” according to the release.  RSVP Here Reservations desired but not required.  Find out more here




Jill Sigman
Gibney Dance Center

To create Weed Heart, “Jill Sigman embarked on extensive research about the plants we call “weeds” and the hidden histories they reveal. Movement improvisation, urban foraging, seed storing, sculpture, community discussions, and tea serving have all been part of her process. Weed Heart investigates resilience, toxicity, invisibility, and power, and offers a ritual to re-connect us to plants, people, and places.  Performed by Sigman, vocalist Kristin Norderval, and a cast of spontaneous urban plants in an installation of salvaged metal readymades,” notes the release.  Find out more here

The Company will present Patrelle’s Macbeth described as a “…balletic retelling of the Bard's classic story…set to a sweeping, patchwork score of Tchaikovsky symphonies,” notes the release.  Find out more here

Flamenco dancer, Maya with guitarist Pedro Cortes and singer José Moreno, joins K. Meira Goldberg, Ninotchka Bennahum and Michelle Heffner Hayes, editors of Flamenco on the Global Stage in an afternoon of discussion and dance – “Flamenco: Beyond the Body of the Sensuous.”  Find out more here 
 
Miro Magloire - New Chamber Ballet

The Company will present two world premieres: Tanz Tanz, set to music by contemporary Germany composer Reiko Fueting, and a new work to a commissioned score by Michel Galante.  Other works by Magloire to music by Giuseppe Tartini and Ravel will complete the program.  Find out more here

The Village Alliance presents their inaugural Astor Alive! Festival, “…free to the public, to celebrate The New Astor Place, a vibrant cultural district with over two dozen historic theater, dance, music, architecture, and art institutions,” according to the release.  Slated to perform at various venues are Douglas Dunn + Dancers, Laurie Berg, Rod Rodgers Dance Company, and many more.   Find out more here

New York Theatre Ballet join local and national businesses, NYC non-profit organizations, entertainers, and a network of community volunteers, “…to transform The Seaport District into an interactive and experiential farm environment for kids and families,” notes the release.  This is a FREE event, but everyone must pre-register through Eventbrite. Kinesis Project dance theatre

Hosted by The Rockaway Artist Alliance and National Parks Service, Kinesis will take audiences on a fall walk of discovery and a visit to the Rockaway Artist Alliance Gallery.  Audience is advised to  wear clothes for a fall day at the beach and shoes for walking. Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
