John Jay College Black Box Theater

For the premiere of a series of performances, FJK Dance's “Fusion of Culture and Dance” will provide an immersive, cross-cultural dance experience and include a “Talk Back” and reception with the company. The Fusion series will be theme-based; each evening will feature a different work from the company repertoire. The Friday’s opening performance will feature UNTOLD, “FJK’s multimedia performance and art installation that layers ancient Middle Eastern aesthetics with contemporary ballet and ballroom movement. Under artistic director, John J Zullo, the conceptual work, Liable to Change "utilizes movement, architecture, sound, light and interactive technologies and filters it all through the Cynefin Framework to inform the piece by delving into states of simplicity, complicatedness," notes the release. The performers are Zachary Denison, Bong Dizon, Hana Goldstone, Katya Lazor and Rachael Oczkus. Darren Solomon is the composer, Kryssy Wright is the lighting designer and Kat Sullivan offers a mix of movement and technology. Find out more here
