Puri and Dancers will be a part of the Indo-American Arts Council’s Erasing Borders Festival of Indian Dance filled with performances, workshops and panel discussions. In collaboration with Pace University, this indoor festival will present classically trained Indian dancers who THINK & MOVE - outside 'the BOX,' notes Puri. She continues, “…in the spirit of the original concept of this festival, which aimed to ERASE the BORDERS between 'traditional and modern', ' classical and contemporary' 'Indian' and 'Indian-American', 'tried/true' and 'reaching to the future'/'daring',” this event is not to be missed. DANCENOW Joe’s Pub Festival

To perform in the intimate Joe’s Pub space artists are asked “…to create a clear and complete artistic statement of five minutes or less for the specifics of the [very small] stage at Joe’s Pub.” This season’s roster of choreographers and companies include Tze Chun Dance, Jamal Jackson, binbin Factory, Harlem Dance Club, The Feath3r Theory/Raja Feather Kelly, Malcolm Low and many more. Montclair will present the first annual free outdoor dance concert, “Dance on the Lawn” at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church (73 S. Fullerton Ave, Montclair, NJ) and boasts a diverse group of artists from New York, state-wide from New Jersey, and some of Montclair’s own. New York: Seán Curran Company and Brice Mousset’s Oui Danse; New Jersey companies include: Maurice Chestnut (Newark), Donna Scro’s Freespace Dance (Montclair), Randy James’ 10 Hairy Legs (Highland Park), Nancy Turano’s New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (Madison), Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts’ Performance Workshop Ensemble (SMAPA/PWE- Montclair), and Kathy Costa’s DanceWorks & Company (Montclair). Montclair resident, Charmaine Warren is the producer/artistic director. This event is co-sponsored by Toni’s Kitchen, Studio042, TonyTurnerPhotography and Imani. Hearts of Men
Peak Performances – Montclair State College

Hearts of Men is the culmination of a two-week intergenerational dance intensive for men ages 14 to 80 directed by Fredrick Earl Mosley on the MSU campus. Dances of community and inspiration are the fruits of this collaboration between men, young and not so young. Octogenarian Dudley Williams, a legendary principal dancer with the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, will be a featured guest artist. Find out more here
