Led by artistic director Robert Battle, AAADT returns for their annual Lincoln Center season with three programs: “Celebrate Women” with works by Jessica Lang, Judith Jamison, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar; “Ailey, Then & Now,” with works by Talley Beatty, Battle; and “Musical Icons,” with works by Jamar Roberts, Twyla Tharp and Battle. The always-free “River To River Festival” boasts a lineup that includes It’s Showtime NYC (6/18 – 22) on the steps of the Federal Hall, and an evening of salsa with Los Hacheros (6/23). Antonio Ramos/Antonio & The Gangbangers will premiere Las Que No Son Bellas son Hermosas (Those Who Aren’t Beautiful are Gorgeous), danced with Saul Ulerio, Awilda Rodriguez-Lora and Marielys Burgos (6/14 & 6/15). Dance Films Association and Baad! team up for a free outdoor screening of “LGBTQ-themed thought-provoking, sexy/sensual dance films especially curated by BAAD’s own Arthur Aviles and Joseph Hall with Marta Renzi of DFA. Filmmakers in attendance include: Winnie Cheung, Jasmine Hearn, Jason Rodriguez, and Rami Shafi,” notes the release (6/16). Find out more here
