In her debut performance at BAM/Fisher, one of New York’s own, the celebrated choreographer and dancer Melnick will debut the world premiere of Moment Marigold, “…a work composed of unfamiliar movement intertwined with fragments of past dances…” (The New Yorker). Dancers Maggie Thom and EmmaGrace Skove-Epes will join Melnick in this “…exploration of the stories within our bodies…an ode to movement, a collision of images, and an exploration of landscapes and hidden stories emerging from the phenomenon of dancing,” notes the release. Moment Marigold is set to music by Steven Reker (People Get Ready). Find out more here

In Windham's Creatures of Habit, which “…draws its inspiration from slapstick comedy, children's stories, game shows and existential drama…seven dancers…find themselves in an absurd, yet strangely familiar universe,” notes the release.  Find out more here

Fall For Dance Festival

For their 11th annual season, City Center's Fall For Dance Festival boasts five programs with performances by Aakash Odedra Company, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, The Australian Ballet, Black Grace, Sébastien Ramirez & Honji Wang, Rennie Harris Puremovement and so many more.  Find out more here  

Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB)

Under the direction of former New York City Ballet dancer Peter Boal, PNB will present two premieres by Christopher Wheeldon and Alejando Cerrudo, and a preview of another by New York City Ballet Soloist and Resident Choreographer Justin Peck.  Find out more here 

Andre Zachery - Renegade Performance Group

Presented by 651 ARTS as part of the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership's Performing the Streets series, curated by the Downtown Brooklyn Arts Alliance, Zachery performs Untitled Distances, “a solo piece responding in subtle yet commanding actions, being present in relationship to proximity, and how to navigate the spaces between,” according to the release.  This is a free event.  Find out more here

Dendy presents Labyrinth, a new dance-play, described as “…a tragicomic, autobiographically inspired retelling of the Theseus myth…set in present-day New York City and performed by a cast of four in multiple roles,” notes the release. Find out more here

Castro presents the world premiere of a canary torsi Court/Garden by Castro in collaboration with performers.  Inspired by “…the imperial ballets of Louis XIV’s French Court…” and presented in three Acts, Court/Garden “…reflects on how power functions in contemporary theater…” notes the release.  There is no late seating for this performance.  Find out more here

Dance Heginbotham + Brooklyn Rider
Baryshnikov Arts Center, Jerome Robbins Theater

Choreographer Heginbotham and composer Colin Jacobsen come together in the new work, Chalk and Shoot based on Dada-istic poems by 20th-century Russian artist and theorist Wassily Kandinsky.  This performance is co-presented by Lincoln Center’s White Light Festival and Baryshnikov Art Center.  Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
