Under artistic directors Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson, the Company returns to The Joyce Theater with three programs including returning associate artistic director and resident choreographer, Jae Man Joo’s premiere Goodnight, plus world premieres by Dee Caspary (Summertime), Ido Tadmor (Postponed Conversations), Rhoden (Duo). From the repertory are Rhoden’s full-evening works Gutter Glitter and Star Dust, a ballet tribute to David Bowie. Find out more here
The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

For their annual five-week season, included on the programs are world premieres Victoria by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, and Members Don’t Get Weary by Ailey dancer Jamar Roberts, plus new productions by Jawole Willa Jo Zollar (Shelter - 1992), Twyla Tharp (The Golden Section - 1983) and Talley Beatty (Stack Up - 1983). The Opening Night Gala Benefit performance with host Janelle Monáe will feature a variety of one-night-only performances plus Revelations with live musicians and singers. Other season highlights include the Family Matinee Series which runs every Saturday afternoon, plus the Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve performances. The artistic director is Robert Battle. Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden will present Christa’s Magdalena, “…a solo performance memoir created and performed by Christa…which through dance, visuals, and storytelling takes on the life of Christa's mother Magdalena and reveals big issues coming to light in Magdalena's life: race relationships, post-traumatic stress, immigration, motherhood, Dutch colonialism and dementia…” according to the release.
