Under artistic director Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispanico returns to the Joyce Theatre with five programs including a world premiere and a special family program. The world premiere- Miguel Mancillas’ Conquer, the New York premiere- Rosie Herrera’s Show.Girl., and the Joyce premiere, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano’s CARMEN.maquia. This season also includes Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Sombrerísimo, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, El Beso, Vilaro’s Asuka and Ramón Oller’s Good Night Paradise. A special afternoon is set aside for the entire family, “Saturday En Familia Program” where for 90-minutes the company will show excerpts of works and all will enjoy a “…fun-filled journey through Latin American dance and culture,” notes the release. For this 16th edition - EMoves at Harlem Stage’s Gatehouse continues with one more performance by commissioned artists André Zachery/Renegade Performance Group, Brinae Ali, Malcolm Low/Formal Structure and LOVE| FORTÈ (Nia Love and Marjani Forte) on April 17. Nine emerging artists close the season with Harlem Stage’s “The Takeover” on April 18 with site-specific creations throughout the building. The evening will end with a DJ dance party.
