BAM
November 8 – 11
For this return to BAM, David Dorfman Dance brings Aroundtown, “…a kinetic poem set to an ethereal alt folk score, text, and visuals…” with a live band. "The work explores commitment, community, and intimacy in times of rampant violence and strife. Amid a live band on stage, the company waltzes and collides, rhythmically channeling an earnest plea for togetherness and empathy.
Addressing the company’s mission to examine personal introspection alongside pertinent social and political issues, Aroundtown offers an intimate view of characters seeking love, redemption and, at times, forgiveness. DDD's signature sly humor, empathy, and robust physicality are harnessed to examine love and community as both sociopolitical and intimate patterns. Featuring a poignant on-stage cameo by Dorfman and his wife Lisa Race, the piece is inspired by diverse cinematic experiences ranging from Umbrellas of Cherbourg to Dogville to Love Actually," according to the release.
