“Gather your family and say hello to the future,” announces the release for Eliot Feld's KIDS DANCE which totals 40 “whizkids” aged 11 to 18, on their return to the Joyce with a program of premieres and more. The premieres are Feld's Pointing 2 and Pointing 3, plus The Jig is Up, Meshugana Dance, and Apple Pie, and last season's It's the Effort That Counts, by Stephanie Terasaki, Conner Bormann and Riley O'Flynn, all graduates of Juilliard. ABT’s spring season continues with Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky’s revival of Marius Petitpa’s Harlequinade (1900), “…the lost classic recreated from its original archival notes …[where]…The loveable clown Harlequin scuffles with proud parents and snobby servants to win the hand of the charming Columbine,” notes the release. For their 2018 New York season featured will be works spanning eight decades including Sophie Maslow’s I Ain’t Got No Home (1941), Bertram Ross’ Nocturne (1978), and works by Martha Graham including Frontier (1935), Diversion of Angels (1948), and excerpts from Cortege of Angels (1967). Curated by New Dance Alliance founder and director Karen Bernard, the 32 nd annual “Performance Mix Festival” returns and will feature works by 30 plus artists with “…diverse approaches to performance, inviting audiences to engage with the unexpected and to experience some of the newest voices in experimental dance” at University Settlement, notes the release. The impressive lineup includes: Antonio Ramos, Ash R. T.
