This inaugural full evening season will include the Light-Print, In-Visible, and the world premiere, GAMAN. Founder/Director/Choreographer Jesse Obremski has also invited the 2024 VOYAGER Fellow Hoyori Maruo to showcase a world premiere. "The works will be performed by an incredibly exciting, deeply grounded, and breathtakingly colorful group of artists of AAPI descent, an artist of indigenous descent, and international artists from Australia, Taiwan, and Japan," notes the release. Kyle Abraham, choreographer, performer, and artistic director of A.I.M. by Kyle Abraham, curates Danspace Project’s sixteenth Platform. Titled “Platform 2024: A Delicate Ritual,” this series of performances reflects Abraham’s interest in each performers’ rituals, desires, and artistic exchanges. BAM’s annual DanceAfrica festival returns for the 47th year celebrating dance from Cameroon. Titled The Origin of Communities / A Calabash of Cultures, this year’s celebration will focus on the traditions and contemporary innovations of Cameroon, affectionately known as "Little Africa." DanceAfrica 2024 invites the community to experience a multi-faceted exploration of dance, music, film, and art. DanceAfrica 2024 performances, under artistic director Abdel R. Salaam, will include offerings from the DanceAfrica Spirit Walkers, Women of the Calabash, Siren-Protectors of the Rainforest and The Billie's Youth Arts Academy Dance Ensemble. Find out more here
