Rainer and her “Reindeers” will present The Concept of Dust: Continuous Project-Altered Annually, “…an ongoing work-in-progress that interweaves formal dance and personal themes of aging and mortality with humor and diverse texts—intermittently read by Rainer and the dancers—dealing with ancient Mideast dynasties, paleontological findings, and literary quotations,” notes the release. 

This piece will kick off American Dance Institute’s New York premieres at The Kitchen. The rest of the season includes: Wilderness by Brian Brooks Moving Company, June 9-11; Jane Comfort & Company’s You Are Here, June 16-18; CHROMATIC, from Susan Marshall, Composer Jason Treuting and Visual Artist Suzanne Bocanegra, June 23-25; and Jack Ferver’s I Want You to Want Me, June 30 – July 2.  Find out more here

Lavagnino brings repertory, and will also feature Veiled, a new contemporary ballet for seven women inspired by Martin Bresnick’s Prayers Remain Forever. Find out more here  
 
Raja Feather Kelly - The Feath3r Theory

Kelly and The Feath3r Theory presents the world premiere of Andy Warhol's Tropico, a new dance-theater work “… Loosely-inspired by singer Lana Del Rey's short film titled Tropico, Andy Warhol's Tropico, [and] sees Kelly and company on a Wizard of Oz-esque journey,” according to the release.   Find out more here

“New Traditions Festival 2016: Dance Your Caribbean!” – Various Artists
Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center

Works based on, and deeply set in Brooklyn communities, are what make up the 2016 Festival which happens during Caribbean Heritage month and features dance artists with roots in Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, and Jamaica, active in their communities in the US and back home in the Caribbean. Artists are: Christopher Walker and Kevin A. Ormsby, Jessica St. Vil, Maxine Montilus, Safi Hariott, Shola Roberts and Dance Caribbean COLLECTIVE Founder, Candace Thompson. Find out more here

    I am a performer, historian, consultant and dance writer.
