The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre
Revelations will close every Ailey performance at Lincoln Center, June 13–17.
On March 30, 1958, Alvin Ailey launched Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, forever changing the face of American dance. We honor Mr. Ailey’s legacy with this special video performance of the section of Mr. Ailey’s Revelations called “I Wanna Be Ready,” danced by veteran Ailey company member Matthew Rushing.
Filmed in Rogers, Texas, where Mr. Ailey was born and lived as a young child, the video also features live accompaniment by five local singers.
