For a decade, The Laundromat Project’s Create Change artist development program has connected communities and artists in meaningful ways, creating a diverse corps of creative community leaders. Each year, we select 20 multiracial, multi-disciplinary artists and changemakers living in the New York metropolitan area to produce eight new projects through our fellowships, commissions, and residencies. For a period of 6-8 months, participants are guided through workshops, studio visits, and intense community building focused on experiential coaching, in order to build and develop community-responsive creative projects. Create Change participants acquire the necessary practical and ethical tools to critically examine the role of artists working with community members. The program further provides artists with a community of support, opportunities to build networks and the resources they need to further develop their creative practices and positively impact the communities where they live, work, and grow.
We are accepting applications for our fellowship, residency, and commissions programs. Learn more about each of these opportunities.
